A Guild Proposal

Post  Guest on Thu Nov 27, 2008 10:25 pm

Today I hope to open your eyes to a future that is attainable and within reach, that could make Absolution the guild to be known server wide. Within our core member base, we have multiple different play styles and characteristics that are otherwise not seen. We have the casuals, the hardcore raiders, the PvPers, the lore junkies, and the RPers.

Time and time again there are guilds that focus on these styles of play but in single form. My proposal is to open up the guild, to make this the place where everyone wants to be, for all walks of life. Offer the raiding people want, the pvp core people strive for, RP events, and hell even teaching sessions for our noobs!

One problem with feathermoon is that there are no huge guilds any more. Just many small ones. Lets make Absolution huge!

Erech can attest to the fact that Order of Twilight was a huge guild when it was in its prime. The council system was in place. We had 4 wings of the guild dedicated to that area in which people wanted to be in. War Council for PvP, Advanced Encounters for PvE, and two others, like cookie baking, and the greeting squad. They were able to maintain a core group of 40 or more raiders, and meanwhile kept regular guild workings going strong.

Other than the assholes in ADF it had one flaw. The guild was only seen between 5:30pm - 9:30 pm Monday - Thursday ( raid time ) other than that it was dead. If we advertise to all wings of players then we can get the people needed for all else.

Thoughts, Comments, Disagreements, I think we can do it and It would be a step in the right direction.

Its a great suggestion Ewey, tho i know that the original plan was to keep it small and within the circle of friends, however, if we are to continue our player base for Wrath Raiding, as well as the Legacy content then yes we will have to recruit. Personnaly i suck at recruitment ... even on the FM Forums i could barley fill one page for the Naxx signups.

What do you propse in terms of setting up the guild ranks / bank for such a format. The PvPers, the RPers the Raiders, etc. etc.

As of late, ive been excited to see that the guild has been very active, with upwards of almost 20 ppl online !! I would love to see this continue to have more and more online, and at the same time from the raiders point of view, id like to see Absolution take its spot as Feathermoon's #1 raid guild. No were not going to be a bunch of elitists douch's nor are we going to ignore anyone who wants to join, however there will need to be a screening process to figure out whos the best vs who needs to either hone there skills, or get help from some of the senior raiders.

Id like to get feedback from all the other guildies / officers on this matter to see how we could progress this option.

Mmmm..

It's an interesting idea and definitely one worth discussing and exploring. I'd hesitate to implement this asap, but I'd like to see a timetable worked up, perhaps I can make one myself.

I'm thinking more along the lines of, 1) brainstorming, 2) choosing the best ideas, 3) setting up a system of management for each section 4) recruiting implementation done by wing or core.

I'm game to give this a lash - but I'd also caution people that getting into this will require a lot more hands on from everyone, and probably a brush up on our own rules. I know we have them listed but if we plan to do something on this scale then everyone has to abide by the rules - us included. I refer to vent, legacy guild chat etc.

We aren't blatently ignoring the rules we have, however I've noticed many times when things have happened that really ought to be a no-no.

Regardless, I think this needs group discussion.

I'm all for making us bigger, but there are a few things that we'd need to keep in mind.

The Bank:
We've recently had a series of account-hacks and had out Guildbank hit, from this we've hopefully learned that we should limit access to the items we deem worth a decent amount, not just in the event that new guildmates get hacked, but also to prevent a guildhopper from cleaning us out.

Making ourselves known:
To really make ourselves known, we need to be out there and participating in the content others want to get involved in. For Player-vs-Player Content, we could all turn up for Wintergrasp sometime, If we win, then hit up Archaedus with ten and/or 25 people. If the guild can't fill all of the spots internally, we could easily grab a few people here and there from the zone itself.
Raidwise, realisticly we should be hitting Naxx now, or if not now, very soon. I'm not saying "Quick! Hit 80, ignore the lore! Disregard fun! 80, Nao plz!" but the sooner we're hitting the content everyone wants to do, the more likely they'll want to hit it with us.

I'll maybe add to this when I get home, As it is, I need to get ready for work.

As it stands already, the only people with major guild bank access is the officers. The first tab is public access to whoever is in guild, what is deposited there, i dont care, thats waht its there for. If there is something of value you want saved, then store it in one of the other tabs, however, KEEP THE BANK organized.

On a second note, I'm all for getting into raiding again, however... i still have 11 levels to grind out >.>

I know that Alistania went into Naxx, and from what i hear the place is an utter joke ..... and as for the Wintergrasp boss, hell ya well take him out every 7 days when it resets.

If there is anyone who would be willing to try and promote the guild / the guild functions please do so, however invitation to guild will need to undergo a screening process so that were not going to be worried about guild hoppers, or theifs etc.

I'd like to put together an officer meeting, done before wednesday. I don't want to rush this but I think if we leave it we'll lose it.

Send Ewanar in game mail when you are available.

Ok, well that sounds quite interesting. I would love to see the guild grow with friendly, productive members.

We should have multiple emphases on various aspects of the game. Top four being: RP, PvP, PvE, and Raiding. And, perhaps, place a note in the 'officer note' of the member as to what aspect(s) they prefer.

Description of 'Wings' of the guild:

RP: Those members who enjoy Role Playing and enjoy the lore. RP events would be more than welcome, and think that Rannia (RP) or Malholis (Lore) would be excellent nominees for the leadership position of that wing, perhaps a dual leadership?

PvP: Those members who primarily enjoy PvP, in all it's various forms. I don't know who's the biggest PvPer in the guild but Agro or someone could surely handle it's leadership.

PvE: Those members who may not have time to devote to raids, but enjoy five man instances and heroics. This could be led by any guild member, and I would enjoy helping to lead this as well.

Raider: Those members who prefer to focus primarily on raiding. Be it any raid from UBRS to the latest and greatest contraption Blizzard sets before us. Could be led by either Firac or myself, or have it be led by multiple people.

Random idea: Have an Academy section where those members who request help in playing their class can get training by a skilled player. Or for those who literally NEED help with their class, can get assistance. Maybe have some sort of test to judge skill level or something.

I'm not great at recruiting folks, but I agree somewhat with Agro's suggestion of a laid out, step-by-step plan. So... say organization of guild ranking system, guild officers (Who's in charge of what), Raid organizing and scheduling, things like that.

Should enforce guild policy on guild chat, I know I'm the worst offender with my occasional outburst of frustrated rage in the form of cussing, and for that I do apologize.

I've known guilds to have a... trial period. Where new members (people we don't know) are allowed to see and talk in guild chat, but nothing else; no guild bank access, etc. If their behavior works well, and they fit in nicely, then we allow more privileges. I'm thinking a period of one or two weeks, that should help us to weed out guild hoppers and guild bank raiders; because they likely won't wait around that long.

I vote we try to get Revenger in the guild. Smile I believe he'd be a great asset and valuable friend to have within the guild. Also, that'd get rid of the "LegendOfficer" channel.

Naturally, we'd have to alter some rules, and create new ones. I say, have a base set of universal guild rules, then perhaps the leaders of a wing could make their set of rules for their specific wing.

So those are just some ideas I came up with on the fly, others are ideas I build on, or fleshed out more.

And I"m available for a officer's meeting any day except Sunday. Smile

You make note of alot of the key intrests to this massive plan, however if this is going to work i think that were going to have to outsouce away from guldportal for the website, and update the forums to allow for a more detailed approach, as well as something thats more organized and clean. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I have noticed the lat couple dates that vent has been on hiadus, i have sent in a petition to the vent server company to get answers, hopefully they will reply shortly.
